My father would like to give me his used 2008 Porsche Cayenne for use as my first car, as he would like to buy a new car. The car is only worth about $16,000 because it has a lot of milage. First I would like to say this is a SUV / truck, not a sports car! It is actually one of the most inexpensive luxury SUV’s one can buy. Alongside Audi, Mercedes, Land Rover, and BMW, the Cayenne has the lowest starting price. I am so extremely responsible and am not a boastful person at all. OK so me and my grandmother financed a car together. She is primary in everything and I’m secondary. simply because her credit was better. She lives in AL and I live in GA. I live in Southern California, I have been looking for work since I moved here from France. I posted a general sales resume on careerbuilder.com and have since been spammed by insurance agencies. Some have been good companies like State Farm and Farmers. Some have been less, like Colonial Life and Axa advisers. I believe Axa wanted me for a commissioned investment broker position. I didn’t pass the personality test for State Farm, but I can try again in a year. I will have a strategy and research next time. State Farm has 9 month paid training, a huge signing bonus at the end and would be an excellent opportunity but it isn’t for right now. What I did learn through all of this, especially from Colonial Life is that the insurance licenses aren’t that hard or expensive to get. I’m thinking of getting life, health and auto. I was in a car accident on November 11. I was in my school parking lot, inside my PARKED car. A girl suddenly crashes into me. I got a letter today from my insurance company who insures my homeowner’s insurance – it said that they need to do an inspection of my home to see if I am maintaining it properly. I’ve been here since November 1999 and I’ve never gotten a letter like this before. I know it is illegal to drive without car insurance b/c I got a ticket for it once when I just didnt have my proof of insurance with me, but it was a pretty small fine, is that the only legal consequence of it? I’m a pretty good driver, no accidents so far (knock on wood), and if I were to get into an accident it would probably not be my fault. Is it true if you get in a car accident without car insurance and its not your fault then you are still financially responsible for the damages to your car? …Like because you dont have insurance the other drivers insurance doesnt acknowledge the accident or something? I was hit by my next door neighbour who we have another dispute with beforehand. My friend’s Dad lives in MA, my friend recently moved from MA to NH ~60 days ago. Insurance is required in MA, and because the policy was cancelled the registration was revoked. The policy was cancelled in May 2014, the registration was revoked in Sep 2014. Upon calling the insurance company, they require the policy paid in full to start a new policy. Also, the cost will be almost 3 times as much as the previous policy ($1,500 was roughly the original price, and they want $4,900 paid in full for the new policy). Has anybody had experience with this sort of situation? Is it normal for the policy to be so much more expensive? Is there anything that can be done to remedy this with the insurance company?"

Why is my car insurance higher than my sisters?
Okay I am kind of frustrated so I am hoping someone can explain this to me. My sister and I both have our car insurance through progressive. We both have 2003 Chevy Cavilers (4 doors). Neither of us have been in an accident, we live only a few miles apart. The only differences I can think of: Her car is red, my car is blue, and I am 23 and she is 25. Driving without car insurance?
So, Im broke and I know its a really awful idea to drive without car insurance, but Im a little unclear about what the rules actually are. I know it is illegal to drive without car insurance b/c I got a ticket for it once when I just didnt have my proof of insurance with me, but it was a pretty small fine, is that the only legal consequence of it? I’m a pretty good driver, no accidents so far (knock on wood), and if I were to get into an accident it would probably not be my fault. Is it true if you get in a car accident without car insurance and its not your fault then you are still financially responsible for the damages to your car? …Like because you dont have insurance the other drivers insurance doesnt acknowledge the accident or something? Anyway, as of 10 min from now my insurance policy will expire and im tempted to not get new insurance for a month or so until im more financially stable. What are the consequences im missing? Anyone know of really cheap insurance? other thoughts? BTW im still paying down the last couple thousand dollars on my car so I think i may be required to have full coverage insurance or I default on my loan, but im not sure. My loan is through a credit union, what may be the consequences if they find out?
